December 2020 – Net Worth Update
As part of my FIRE blog I will be tracking my total net worth on a monthly basis and compare it to where I want to be when I reach my FIRE number. A summary of my assets are as follows:
TOTAL: $923,314.47
- Property: $459,082.29
- Cash: $169,471.58
- Shares: $137,623.08
- Superannuation: $116,847.91
- Other: $40,289.61
Explanation of each category:
Property
I currently own two investment properties, total property value is approximately $920,000 with a current loan balance of $460,917.71 – Net Value of $459,082.29 (offset account is approximately $65,000.00)
Cash
This is mostly currently in US Currency (I will go into this further in a future blog), and I am in the process of bringing the money back into Australia where I will invest it further into ETFs
Shares
My shares are currently in SelfWealth, mostly in ETFs (however there is a small bit I play around with on individual stocks) – I will go into more detail of what breakdown I have in future blog posts.
Superannuation
My Superannuation is currently with CBus and I am relatively happy with them. I will explore superannuation funds in a future blog posts as well.
Other
The majority of this amount comes from a debt that a family member owes me
Each month I will explore the changes from the previous month and explore the reasons why my investments have been growing (or shrinking). I will also talk about my plans for the month ahead and how it aligns with my goal of reaching FIRE.
Over the next month or so I will be bringing money back from the US and investing it into my ETF portfolio. Also I will increase the amount in my offset account, which I currently use as my emergency fund.
